Modafinil MD Review

Looking for a detailed Modafil MD review to see what the buzz is all about? Look no further!

Modafil MD is one of the most unique generic modafinil formulations on the market today. It’s sublingual, meaning you take it by dissolving it under your tongue rather than swallowing it like a pill. But while there are many benefits to sublingual administration, Modafil MD might not be the most ideal nootropic for you.

Here’s our informative review of Modafil MD — including its benefits and potential side effects, along with how it stacks up against other modafinil generics.

What Is Modafil MD?

Modafil MD is a generic modafinil. Unlike other generic modafinil drugs, it is designed to be taken sublingually (dissolved under the tongue) rather than swallowed.

Like other versions of modafinil, it is designed to help people with sleep disorders (like sleep apnea and narcolepsy) stay awake during the day. However, it has a number of documented off-label uses for depression, anxiety and ADHD. In fact, more modafinil prescriptions are given for off-label purposes, like those we just mentioned, than for promoting wakefulness in people with sleep disorders [1, 2].

Modafinil also has a number of cognition-enhancing effects that make it a very popular nootropic, or smart drug. Users of modafinil for its nootropic benefits report that it gives them long-lasting energy, more focus and concentration and enhanced memory [3].

Modafil MD is available in 100 mg or 200 mg doses, unlike most modafinil medications — which are typically only available in 200 mg form. Users report that Modafil MD has a pleasant minty taste.

Sublingual Modafinil

One of the most unique things about Modafil MD is that it’s sublingual, which means it’s designed to be dissolved under the tongue, rather than swallowed like a pill. Most other generic versions of modafinil (and the name brand, Provigil) are pills that need to be swallowed.

However, there are several potential advantages to sublingual medications:

  • Easier to take. If you have trouble swallowing pills, then chewables, liquids and sublinguals are a much better alternative.
  • Reduced pill burden. For people who take a lot of pills, “pill burden” is a very real issue. Sublingual drugs can help to reduce that daily burden of pills to swallow daily, even if only slightly [4].
  • Faster absorption. Sublingual drugs are absorbed directly into the bloodstream, so they’re absorbed more quickly and — therefore — you generally feel the effects faster [5].
  • Bypass digestive system. Unlike pills, which have to first enter the digestive system to be absorbed, sublingual pills are absorbed directly from the mouth into the bloodstream. This is why they typically take effect more quickly than pills [5].
  • Bypass liver. After moving through the digestive system, pills are then metabolized by the liver — which can significantly alter them, potentially causing them to lose potency. This is known as the “first pass effect.” However, sublingual drugs are able to bypass liver metabolism as well, and instead directly enter the bloodstream [5, 6].
  • Lower dose may be equally effective as pills. For all of these reasons, but most particularly because it’s able to bypass the digestive system and liver and enter directly into the bloodstream, a lower dose of sublingual drugs may be just as effective as higher doses of the pill form [5].

Unfortunately, due to a lack of research, we’re not sure exactly how Modafil MD dosages and absorption rates stack up against modafinil pills.

Modafil MD Benefits

Modafil MD has several potential benefits, much like other versions of modafinil:

  • Capacity to enhance mood. One review of six studies on modafinil and depression noted that modafinil could help reduce fatigue and self-reported depressive symptoms in depressed people. Depression is also one of the most common off-label diagnoses that modafinil is prescribed for [2, 7].
  • Improved memory. Two studies in humans have noted memory improvements in both healthy and depressed adults after a single dose of modafinil 200 mg [8, 9].
  • Enhanced focus and better decision-making. Taking just one dose of modafinil 200 mg can improve executive function (like making decisions and planning) in healthy adults [8].
  • Sustained energy. Modafinil can improve energy levels and reduce fatigue in people with many different health conditions, including HIV/AIDS and multiple sclerosis. It has also been used to help promote alertness in people who’ve suffered a stroke. Additionally, it’s been found helpful to sustain energy levels and alertness in pilots who are sleep deprived [10, 11, 12, 13].

In addition to these benefits, Modafil MD may also have many of the benefits of sublingual drugs that we listed above.

Modafil MD Side Effects

According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, modafinil (and therefore, any generic versions) may have the following side effects [1]:

  • “headache
  • dizziness
  • difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
  • drowsiness
  • nausea
  • diarrhea
  • constipation
  • gas
  • heartburn
  • loss of appetite
  • unusual tastes
  • dry mouth
  • excessive thirst
  • nosebleed
  • flushing
  • sweating
  • tight muscles or difficulty moving
  • back pain
  • confusion
  • uncontrollable shaking of a part of your body
  • burning, tingling, or numbness of the skin
  • difficulty seeing or eye pain”

They also list the following severe side effects of modafinil, which may require urgent medical attention:

  • “rash
  • blisters
  • peeling skin
  • mouth sores
  • hives
  • itching
  • hoarseness
  • difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
  • chest pain
  • fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat
  • frenzied, abnormally excited mood
  • hallucinating (seeing things or hearing voices that do not exist)
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • thinking about killing or harming yourself”

Modafinil may also have interactions with certain other drugs. You should speak with your doctor before starting modafinil, especially if you’re taking any other prescription medications or if you have any medical conditions [14].

Additionally, in separate threads on Reddit, two different users expressed that Modafil MD specifically gave them an unpleasant body odor. The first says:

“Hi everyone! I’m 24, male, recently started to take Modafil MD 200 by Instas sublingually which makes my sweat smell like rotten eggs.”

The next says, in reference to Modafil MD:

“It is a taste that is internal that lasts all day… plus I kind of stink.”

This side effect appears to be unique to Modafil MD, as we haven’t found any other reports of other types of modafinil making people smell bad.

Where To Buy Modafil MD Online? | 2023 Guide

It can be difficult to find a trusted and reputable supplier of generic modafinil products. That’s why we recommend Modafinil XL. Along with a number of other modafinil generics and research chemicals, they sell Modafil MD in both the 100 mg and 200 mg doses.

Prices for Modafil MD range from about $1 to $3 per tablet. Curiously, the 200 mg version is less expensive than the 100 mg version once you get into larger purchases — otherwise, they’re the same price. For the most cost savings, it’s better to buy larger amounts.

We like Modafinil XL because they have professional packaging and a secure payment system. They also offer several discounts and promos, including 20% off if you pay with Bitcoin. When shipping to the US, standard shipping is $29 or free with a purchase of $80 or more. For express shipping you can pay $38, or it’s free with a purchase of $180 or more.

This is why we recommend ordering your Modafil MD from Modafinil XL.

Is Modafil MD Legal?

Modafil MD is a generic version of the prescription drug Provigil (modafinil), which is legal in the United States. It is a Schedule IV prescription drug, meaning that it carries a low risk of abuse [15].

From country to country, the legal status of modafinil varies greatly. However, as far as we know, there has not been a single incident of an individual in the Western world being arrested or formally charged for purchasing modafinil online.

If it is legal to import into and possess in your country, there are several ways that you can order it online. However, as we mentioned above, we prefer Modafinil XL. They offer worldwide shipping, as well.

How Long Does Modafil MD Take To Work?

With users reporting that modafinil taken in pill form can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or more to become noticeably effective, we would expect the more quickly-absorbed sublingual Modafil MD to be much quicker.

Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any scientific research on the absorption time of Modafil MD, nor are there any user reports we can find. Despite its unique formulation, Modafil MD is not a commonly used drug among nootropics enthusiasts.

We can only theorize — based on what we know about sublingual administration of drugs — that Modafil MD will “kick in” faster than modafinil in pill form.

Modafil MD Dosage and Tolerance

Modafil MD comes in 100 mg or 200 mg doses.

The standard dose of modafinil in pill form when prescribed to help with wakefulness is 200 mg. However, nootropics users report taking a daily dose of modafinil of anywhere from 50-300 mg [1].

One thing to consider with Modafil MD specifically is that it is sublingual, meaning it will likely be absorbed more quickly and may have a stronger effect than the pill form of modafinil — even for the same size dose.

For this reason, we would start with the lowest dose of Modafil MD: 100 mg. Although it may be easier to purchase the 200 mg at some online retailers, Modafinil XL actually offers the 100 mg version for sale as well.

It’s important to exercise caution when taking a new product. That’s why our preferred strategy is to start with the smallest available dose, carefully assess how it affects us and move up slowly from there if needed.

Modafil MD vs. Modalert vs. Modvigil vs. Provigil

So, how does Modafil MD stack up against other types of modafinil? We’ve got the answers right here.

First, let’s talk about some of the most common and well-known brands of modafinil:

  • Provigil: Provigil is the original name brand of modafinil, which was invented in France in the late 1970s. Provigil received U.S. Food & Drug Administration approval in 1998 and is manufactured by Cephalon. Although it’s the name brand version of modafinil, it’s not widely used among nootropics enthusiasts.
  • Modalert: On the other hand, Modalert is one of the most popular generic modafinil choices for nootropics users. It’s manufactured by Sun Pharma, and based on what we’ve read from users and experienced ourselves, it provides the most cognition-enhancing effect per pill of any modafinil product. It’s available on Modafinil XL in 200 mg tablets.
  • Modvigil: Modvigil, manufactured by HAB Pharma, is formulated to be the most budget-friendly generic modafinil available for purchase. And although it’s inexpensive, many people report that it still provides huge nootropic benefits. It’s also available on Modafinil XL in 200 mg tablets.

All three of these variants come only in pill form, rather than sublingual like Modafil MD. So how do we know which one is better?

Well, we really… don’t know. Theoretically, since they all contain the same active ingredient, they should also have similar effects and benefits.

Based on user experiences, though, (including our own) we find Modalert and Modvigil to be the most reliable options. These two have solid reputations based on reports from regular users, and are made by manufacturers who have been around for a while.

On the other hand, it’s very difficult to find reports from people who have used Modafil MD with success.

However, if for some reason you need or greatly prefer the sublingual route of administration, then you may want to consider Modafil MD over the other options.

Modafil MD Review | Verdict?

Modafil MD is a generic version of modafinil that’s designed for sublingual administration. As a nootropic, it may help provide you with energy, improve your mood and focus, and beef up your memory and executive function.

There are also several benefits to taking drugs sublingually, like faster absorption and easier use. Unfortunately, we don’t know too much more about how Modafil MD works differently than the pill forms of modafinil because no research has been done comparing them.

Additionally, we can’t find any positive reports from Modafil MD users online. In fact, two users on Reddit said that it made them stink, which isn’t a normal symptom of modafinil.

While Modafil MD is a great choice if you dislike or can’t take pills, we prefer Modalert or Modvigil — and all of these products can be purchased on Modafinil XL.
